How Much Oil Do I Need?
Most people ring and ask this before they order. Here is the short version.
Start with the tank
A standard domestic oil tank holds 1,000 litres. If yours is a different size, work from that instead — and check what is already in it before you order, because the tank has to be able to take the full amount you ask for. Under our terms, making sure the tank will hold the delivery is the customer's responsibility, not the driver's.
Read the gauge, take the fraction, and order the difference:

Leave yourself a little room rather than ordering to the brim.
What it costs per litre
The bigger the delivery, the less each litre costs. The difference is real at the small end and flattens out in the middle:

A 150-litre top-up costs about 22% more per litre than a full tank. That is worth knowing if you are choosing between a small drop now and a fill next month — though a small drop now is still better than a cold house.
All prices include VAT at 13.5%, and there is no delivery charge.

Top up or fill?
Fill if you can. It is the cheapest way to buy oil, it is one delivery instead of two, and it takes the tank off your mind until spring.
Top up if a full tank is not on this month. Our smallest delivery is 150 litres, and it still arrives within one working day with no delivery charge.
